10 points to Kent Fire & Rescue Service for coming up with this video about testing your smoke alarms. It was released to align with the 30th anniversary of the 1987 movie Dirty Dancing – how do you rate it? Let us know in the comments below. Could you see a crew from your station giving this a go on a quiet day in the rec room?

It may go down as the most awkward dance on the internet, but a tip of the helmet to them for giving it a go and sending a good public safety message at the same time. Well done! 😀

Keep having the time of your life

Nobody puts fire safety in the corner! We’re encouraging people to “Keep having the time of your life” – “test your smoke alarm weekly”. This video was made to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the classic #1987 movie #DirtyDancing, but also to deliver a serious message about carrying out a quick life-saving weekly check.

I founded Flashover to promote Australian Firefighting. I've been a volunteer and a paid firefighter but now I spend my time chasing up leads, promoting good mental health and making the occasional Grumpy Firecom comic!
