Here’s something a little different – FRNSW 032 arrived to find a police car well alight on the M7 motorway in Western Sydney.
Speaking with police, it was confirmed the car contained live rounds and Police Rescue responded to the scene to provide additional information and PPE.
032 initially used their roof monitor to attack the fire, but it was determined a firefighter with a hoseline was required to fully extinguish the fire. Using a police shield, a firefighter and a police officer (who also happens to be a retained firefighter) advanced on the vehicle to extinguish it.
The police officer was using a buddy line from the firefighters CABA set. The NSW Rural Fire Service was also in attendance for water supply and suppression of a small grass fire.
Big thanks to Dean Asher for the video and photos.
I founded Flashover to promote Australian Firefighting. I’ve been a volunteer and a paid firefighter but now I spend my time chasing up leads, promoting good mental health and making the occasional Grumpy Firecom comic!
