The Mount Compass fire in South Australia kept crews busy as fire ripped through grass and scrub. At one point the CFS issued an emergency warning as the fire threatened several houses.
The new pumper is the first of 3 new appliances built by the CFS, which shares the same same design as the new CFA medium pumpers – just built on the Isuzu cab chassis. Aldinga Beach Pumper is the first one to make it out to a station and by all accounts, it’s fantastic.
Graeme from South East Media SA was on scene at a silo fire in Mt Gambier where wood chip that was stored in silos caught fire requiring a large scale response from both the SA MFS and CFS. It is believed to have started as a result of a dust explosion.
This new bulk water boasts an impressive hydraulic arm to lower a ‘portadam’ container from the side of the appliance, allowing firefighters to safely lower the dam and deploy it without having to drag it off the appliance. A back saving feature for sure!
