Just have a look at this beast of an appliance. Custom designed by a team of people at Waitakere VFB, WAIT7711 is a force to be reckoned with! We spoke with the guys at Waitakere about their latest addition to the station.
The appliance is result of a collaborative build by the Waitakere community and Auckland Rural Fire. This project took two years and a huge amount of work by a team of people dedicated to creating a great asset for the community.
The appliance is designed to be a tanker and a specialist rural appliance that can support long duration incidents and has the following:
- 6,000 litres of water
- Seats 6 fire fighters
- Tohatsu 72 high volume water pump
- Wajax water pump
- 7,400 litre portable dam
- Inbuilt 60 litre fuel container with electric fuel pump
- Foam induction system
- 2 x 41mm and 2 x 70mm deliveries
- Tripod lighting LED light
- Commercial chainsaw
- Rural hand tools
- 4 x forestry packs plus flaked and coiled hose
- 2 x BA sets with 2 spare cylinders
I founded Flashover to promote Australian Firefighting. I’ve been a volunteer and a paid firefighter but now I spend my time chasing up leads, promoting good mental health and making the occasional Grumpy Firecom comic!
