We had a chat with the guys from Nar Nar Goon CFA station about their role in the local community. They are a volunteer station and run a “pumper/tanker” which is an old tanker retrofitted to act as a pumper and an additional rescue appliance. They attend around 300+ calls a year, about a third of that being rescue incidents.

Interestingly, they are one of only a few areas in the state that gets dual paged with the SES for any rescue incident and both services attend to provide rescue coverage.

We respond and work together at the job under the one Rescue Commander. Depending who is first on scene that could be an SES Member or a CFA Member. The dual rescue has been in effect for years and benefits the community in multiple ways as anyone could appreciate.
