News from across the ditch, Governors Bay VFB were out training when they were responded to a car down an embankment, swapping from training to reality! It looks like it was pretty cold and wet out there, which would have made things much more difficult. Well done to all.
Training night last night turned into the real thing… recovering 4 people from a car that went off the Summit Rd, and approx 80m down a very steep wet bank into a tree. Very lucky that the car stayed on its wheels, and one of them was able to walk far enough to find phone coverage. Stokes basket and lines rescue took lots of people – good to be working with Lincoln 417, Chch 217 and more.
I founded Flashover to promote Australian Firefighting. I’ve been a volunteer and a paid firefighter but now I spend my time chasing up leads, promoting good mental health and making the occasional Grumpy Firecom comic!
