In 2016 two firefighting appliances were donated to Vanuatu by ACT Fire & Rescue to increase the island’s response capabilities, having had a number of incidents that were unable to be attended due to broken down or offline appliances.
Reynir Potter was in Vanuatu and noticed the bright yellow Scania, so stuck his head and said g’day. He sent us these photos and also noted there was only half the roof and no watchroom left as the station was recently heavily damaged by wild weather!
I founded Flashover to promote Australian Firefighting. I’ve been a volunteer and a paid firefighter but now I spend my time chasing up leads, promoting good mental health and making the occasional Grumpy Firecom comic!
