Crews from 462 Mayfield West and 357 Lambton Fire & Rescue NSW were responded to reports of a building fire and on arrival, found a recycling compound with heavy smoke and fire showing. Initially crews were hampered by multiple locked gates and had to force entry to begin fire operations.

The incident escalated to a 4th alarm, bringing in HAZMAT and CAFS appliances. The large recycling depot sustained heavy damage and crews worked through the night to contain the fire.

I founded Flashover to promote Australian Firefighting. I've been a volunteer and a paid firefighter but now I spend my time chasing up leads, promoting good mental health and making the occasional Grumpy Firecom comic!
