Multiple 000 calls were received for a person’s reported house fire in Cooranbong, NSW. Rural Fire Brigades from Cooranbong, Dora Creek & Martinsville along with Fire & Rescue NSW Station’s 383 Morisset and 485 Wangi Wangi were responded.
The first arriving appliance was a Group Officer (Deputy Group 3) who upon arrival was informed that there were confirmed persons reported trapped, one of which was unconscious in a front bedroom. Passing motorists had already entered the house through a window and Deputy Group 3 was able to coordinate the retrieval of the victims safely from the property.
NSW RFS crews arrived moments later and with the assistance of a member of the public, rendered first aid on both victims until the arrival of ambulance. During this time firefighters from both NSW RFS and Fire & Rescue performed a direct attack on the house fire and were able to prevent the spread of fire to neighbouring properties.
That’s a great effort by all agencies – from bystander accounts, everything from the arrival of appliances to the co-ordination between agencies ran like clockwork.
