This is one of those scenarios you draw on a whiteboard and never really think you’ll see. A B-double truck has slammed into a guardrail and bridge, hung the trailer off the side of the bridge and then caught fire. It happened on the Hume Highway and the Wingecarribee River Bridge in Berrima and drew a large scale response from both the NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire & Rescue NSW.
The 62yr old driver managed to get himself out of the mangled cabin just before it caught alight and he was transported to Bowral hospital with only minor wounds! Great work to all the crews that attended this job, we imagine the first informative message would have been fairly interesting!
Thanks for all the crews who sent in photos.

It also appears this tanker carrying Mt Franklin water happened to be in the right place at the right time!
