Otaki, Plimmerton and Manawatu stations conducted a controlled house fire burn in Palmerston North as part of a training exercise on live fire conditions. Not only was the burn used for offensive fire attack training, they used it to test different types of smoke alarms, equipment and trained on forcible entry techniques.
Small fires were lit in the house throughout the day, then eventually it was burnt to the ground.

I founded Flashover to promote Australian Firefighting. I’ve been a volunteer and a paid firefighter but now I spend my time chasing up leads, promoting good mental health and making the occasional Grumpy Firecom comic!
