Firefighters were called to a unit block in Liverpool New South Wales and arrived to find the 16th floor alight. Poor mains pressure required a 7th alarm response with appliances relay pumping from over a 1km away. Firefighters also had to carry gear up the stairs to prevent fire extension to lower floors.
With a station that houses over 50 operational firefighters and attends over 800 calls a year, Narre Warren from the CFA has just welcomed a brand new appliance. On the 16th of August, Derek Ho was behind the lens again and produced some fantastic shots of a third alarm fire in Sydney. The incident happened at 1 Thomas Holt Dr, Macquarie Park and caused the evacuation of 30+ people. There are some really nice shots of the crews here for the stations that attended.
This season Cameron Park RFB from the NSW RFS is trialling a Category 6 Bulk Water CAFS tanker. It holds 9000 litres of water and has a remote controlled monitor front monitor, allowing full CAFS operation from inside the cabin. Earlier this week it got out to a local hazard reduction and put some wet stuff on the red stuff.
One man has reportedly suffered serious burns after an explosion in a chemical disposal factory in Sydney. The incident quickly escalated to 4th alarm and the CareFlight helicopter was dispatched to transport the man who was injured in the explosion.
